Warum wird Hawaii eigentlich auch Sandwich Insel genannt?


In einer Quizsendung habe ich gehört, dass Hawaii auch Sandwich Insel genannt wird. Warum ist das so und hat es wirklich was mit den belegten Toast-Scheiben zu tun?
